Disc: 1. 1. Une Cantate De Noel - Maurice Durufle. Cris Du Monde - Berthe Monmart. Disc: 2. Prologue: 'Au Nom Du Dieu Saint'. Chanson Des Enfants: 'Des Matines Jusqu'au Soir'. The original sonics must not have been state-of-the-art and French EMI’s transfer did little to improve them. Tzipine conducts a great Pacific and Rugby, biting and precise, and here the harsh 1953 sonics and unrefined and glaring tone of Orchestre du Conservatoire's brass are assets rather than liabilities
A Christmas Cantata (French: Une cantate de Noël; German: Eine Weihnachtskantate) is a Christmas cantata composed by Arthur Honegger in 1953; it is reportedly his last composition. It requires a mixed choir, a baritone soloist, an organ, an orchestra and a children's choir, and it describes the Christmas story. Honegger's symphony, which contains musical quotations from two Basel folk songs, expresses the composer's happiness during a pleasant stay in the Swiss countryside after the end of World War II.
