This one-of-a-kind concert, which will be filmed by WVIA Public Media Studios in high definition for later distribution to public television stations nationwide, features one of the most engaging ensembles in the history of Irish music plus two-time Grammy-nominated vocalist Maura O'Connell, a special string ensemble, and world-champion Irish dancers.
Cherish The Ladies featuring Tradconnect member Joanie Madden are thrilled to announce that their Public Television Special is airing across America. The show is entitled, "An Irish Homecoming" and it features Cherish the Ladies, Irish singing legend Maura O'Connell, an 11 piece string section and 7 of the best dancers in the world. In 2013, they recorded a live DVD, CD; An Irish Homecoming, Live from Bucknell University featuring Cherish the Ladies, Irish singing sensation Maura O’Connell, seven dancers and a string section that has been featured as a nationwide special on American Public Television. Their recording Woman of the House was also in the Billboard top 10 World Music Charts.
Cherish the Ladies has also recorded a track on the Grammy-nominated album, The Celtic Album with the Boston Pops. Although the group was originally formed from Irish-American female musicians, the current lineup along with Madden consists of founding member Mary Coogan from New York on guitar; All-Ireland Champion Mirella Murray from Connemara, County Galway, on accordion; pianist Kathleen Boyle from Glasgow, Scotland; fiddler Nollaig Casey from Bandon, Co Cork and Kate Purcell from Co Clare on vocals.
